Biography
Oğul Can Öztunç graduated from the Department of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University in 2014, receiving the Best Graduation Project Award, the first prize in Archiprix Turkey, and the HPP Travel Grant in the same year. After graduation, he travelled across Japan, studying the country’s architectural culture, urban environments, and everyday spatial practices. He taught architectural drawing and design studios at Istanbul Bilgi University.
In 2017, he co-founded Piknik Works, working across architecture, visual arts, graphic storytelling, and spatial installation. Piknik’s projects explore how architecture produces experience, gathers people, and communicates through forms beyond conventional building practice. Alongside his professional work, he develops research-based projects such as Detectives of Everyday-Life, which investigates the relationship between everyday life and architecture. His practice is shaped by an interest in informal spatial knowledge, embodied experience, and the ways architecture happens through gestures, encounters, and collective forms of life.
